An artwork I am interested in is out of stock. What do I do?
I make artworks in small batches. If you have a specific art piece that you are interested please send me an email at dkgcraftstudio@gmail.com and I will try to prioritize it and let you know as soon as it is available.
I'm typically very responsive and can also give an estimated timeline on when the artwork will be back in stock.
What is your return policy?
Due to the delicate nature of each piece, high materials cost, and exceptional amount of time required to make them, I do not allow returns, with the obvious exception of damage during shipping. I am a small business, so please do not fake shipping damage as this costs me greatly.
I really do care that each customer is happy with their purchase, so if you have a concern please reach out to me and we can come to a resolution on a case by case basis.
Note that while each piece will be of high quality, units have their own unique "personality" as this is largely a hand crafted item made using natural wood. Please be sure that you want the item before purchasing.
Is each artwork unique?
Due to the extremely high number of hours required to design each artwork and a desire to maintain affordable prices, I make multiple units from the same design.
However, the layers of wood in each piece will have a unique grain structure, and each unit is engraved with my signature, the date it was made, and a unique unit number to identify the order in the series in which it was made.
How is it made?
The process begins with many hours of design work. I make use of vector graphic software to create a unique cutout pattern for each layer in the artwork that can be later sent to a laser cutter.
Each layer of wood is then inspected for impurities, sanded, stained, and cut out using a laser cutter. After cleanup, the final set of layers are then glued and doweled together and the back of the artwork is engraved with my signature, the date, and a unique number signifying its order in the series.
Finally, the back of the artwork is sanded and the piece is carefully sprayed with a clear polyacrylic clear coat which provides a professional sheen and seals the wood to protect the artwork.
Who makes it and where?
I make each piece myself here in Granite Bay, California.
How long does it take?
The design of each piece varies wildly, but can be up to 70+ hours for the initial design plus many more hours of iterations after making and testing with various features and colors.
Once the design is finalized, for most of my artworks it currently takes roughly 12+ hours to make a single unit.
Do you use AI in your design process?
No. Each piece is designed by me, a real human :)
What materials/wood do you use?
All of my artworks are currently made using artistic-grade Baltic Birch plywood.
Each piece of wood is stained rather than painted to reveal the beautiful, natural wood grain.
I glue each piece together using a high quality, water resistant wood glue.
Each piece is sealed with a polyacrylic protective spray coating.
Can I hang it outdoors?
I recommend hanging indoors.
While the materials, glues, and protective coatings I use are of high quality, this is still a wooden product and will degrade over time if exposed to the elements.
How can I clean dust off of the artwork?
I recommend using a can of compressed air, spraying lightly from a distance.
Concentrated/high pressure air can break delicate details of the artwork, so please be careful.
